Shadow Shots: Watcher

Watcher

We pass this old church, nested among grave stones like a mother hen with her chicks, every fall on our way up to Michigan to pick apples. Every year on our way north, we see a man sitting on the steps beside the cellar door. Every year he is gone when we come back through on our way home - every year for over 20 years.

This time, I snapped a photo of the church on our way home. The man had been there earlier, as usual, and as usual was now gone. Just an old church without our mystery man.

But ... what is that shadow in the window above the cellar door?

The photo is cropped, but is otherwise straight from the camera. There isn't anything to cast that shadow, and that one is only on the shutters inside the window, not on the outside of the church.

Strange.

There are lots more shadows to see at HeyHarriet's:

Intriguing shadow shot for the day and what an interesting, intriguing story about the man being there for 20 years!! Hope your weekend is going well!

I am able to see what I see. No man, but the beauty of looking at one thing for so many years what was usual was to be expected. A change changes the 'usual' a bit and we notice what we no longer see. Neat!

Sylvia, it is odd. We see him no matter what time we come by, too. He's a black man in work clothes. And Vicki - no idea why he's never there on the way back. We are beginning to wonder if he is real.

Ralph, he's on the wrong side of the car to snap a shot when he's there. I took this one just to see if anything would show up in his spot on the stairs. Nothing on the stairs, but there is that dark shadow in "his" window.
