Black and White: Prophecy
I've been at a loss lately for things to photograph. Everything seems so ... dull. Boring. Predictable.
Time was, I'd roam the house and yard, happily clicking away at everything from the water meter to houseplants, sneaking up on the cat, stalking the bird feeder, annoying everyone at various events. I can't seem to get into it anymore. I look at yet another photo that's just like a million others, sigh, and hit delete. (OK, I lied. I keep them all. My hard drive is about to explode.)
I've decided to take fewer pictures in general, and to explore dramatic lighting, effects, and macro more. Maybe that'll help.
So what do YOU do when you get like this?
P.S. - This is the point of a bubble-glass globe for an overhead light, set on its side on my faux 'gator iPad cover, with morning light blazing in through the open end. I figured somebody might ask.

Very creative, I like it. I don't get out and about much, so I photograph a lot of things around my house and yard.
Thanks, Karen. I don't get out much either, and I feel like I've exhausted my house and yard for photo ops. What to do , what to do...
Oh..that's very unsusual.. great shot!
Wonderful composition.
It looks a snail at first glance and I like the texture.
It looks very much like an arty chandelier. A clever, creative photo.
Lovely post!
That makes a very interesting shot.
What sorts of things does this "crystal ball" tell you?
Shadowy Riddles
Challenge yourself to 'take the picture you've never taken'. That's what I do sometimes, and I don't allow myself to switch to another subject until I've really, really explored the first one. This is when I get the best pics, but having said that I really like your black and white abstract picture in this post :)
Beautiful photo.
My first thought was that it was a chandelier, too!! But a very creative capture it is!! Since I've moved back to Portland, I don't have the same photos opportunities/places etc. that I had in Seattle and sometimes it gets really discouraging!!But I keep at it!! Have a great weekend!
It gives an interesting pattern - I couldn't figure out what it was ;)

Magical, a very good question! It tells me not to give up hope. There is still magic to be found in the world, if you search hard enough.
Barb, that's a great suggestion. I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks for posting it!
Thanks, everyone, for your comments and encouragement!
and you were right...thanks for including what it was. maybe you had to get into a rut to push you into something else. this shot is great!!!
It seems so, Robin. Thanks!
This is a interesting and very creative photo! Wonderful play of light! Very nicely done!
lovely shiny photo!
Oh, I love the light! Beautiful photo.
great shot. :) Well, as you said. different kinds of lighting is good . Apart from the sun I use the small lamps used for biked and flashlights. Everything might work. :) Most important, taek the image when you see it. Never wait then it is gone. Today I put a black bedsheet in the tub for washing. And then I had some wet stuff hanging over one side of it. Created some cool ripple effect. Will probaly use it for an abstract image soon.
I relate and my hard drive is about to burst too. I dread running out of interesting things and ways to take photographs. When I feel like that I try to go out at different times of the day and keep my eyes open. Sometimes I need to go further from the house or to town to look around.
Gorgeous shot! The light is wonderful.
Interesting play of light! Nice shot :-)
When there seems like nothing left to photograph, I go for a walk in a neighborhood and allow my eyes to find interesting details. Might surprise yourself.
wow, this is so spectacular! in my head, these are angels spreading their wings as they drift upwards.
