Round Robins: Growing

Our Pond in Spring

Flags

This one was suggested by Jan, AKA Whammy, of The Ellis Family Cincinnati.

Pretty much everything is growing this time of year, from kids to birds to gardens, and the Robins are right there with their trusty cameras to catch all the wonder and glory of the season. Our little pond is absolutely bursting with life.

I've been snapping wild flower pictures as I find new things popping up. (I'm adding them to this Flickr set as I go.) Right now, the stars of the show are these wild iris, which love the edges of wetlands and ponds. If you enlarge the first photo, you'll see them in the foreground and more way back at the far edge of the water.

My Mom loved irises, and I think of her every time I see them. She would have loved these.

Be sure to visit the other entries at the Round Robins Photo Challenge, and join us next time.

What a stunning photo of the pond! I love those irises.

How lucky you are to have a pond to watch through the seasons.

I would give my first, second and third born to have a pond. How lucky you are. I love these iris also. We have some that a friend and I dug up from the side of the road in WI...before we found out that it was against the law. OOps. Lovely shot.

That iris in the wild is splendid. And what a lovely reflection in your first photo: sometimes lots of greens can make a dull photo, but yours is a great capture.

Beautiful shots. We were camping this weekend and took very similar photos of a pond along a trail we hiked. This looks so serene and of course perfect for the challenge.

My goodness, everyone, thanks so much for your kind comments! You made the mosquito bites totally worth it.

The thing I like best about this pond is that it is the real deal. Nobody planned, created or planted it; it just is. Skeeters and all.
