Hey! We're back! I didn't realize it until I popped by Carly's place and found a party in progress. So, to kick off 2010 the Round Robins are exploring our roots. So to speak.
All the roots around here are currently under a foot of snow, so I dug some out of my archives.
This tree grows at Natural Stone Bridge and Caves in the Adirondacks, on a gigantic granite slab that stands nearly on its end. Massive roots go completely down the stone to the ground, while slender ones snake up to the summit to find a grip.
Unfortunately, they have nailed and posted signs everywhere, and the place is a maze of stairs and handrails, so getting an unimpeded shot of the whole affair is impossible. Still, I hope you can get at least a sense of it.

so you are sitting in snow ? Here in Belgium they announce snow everyday, but so far there is nothing coming, lol!

Saw your comment on Nancy Luvs Pics blog. So I thought I would visit you. I think that first roots photo looks as though there is a monkey's arm reaching out of the center! I know you were disgusted with the stairs and rails in the second one because they impeded your view of the roots but I love the stepping stones! Probably a little shaky footing though on those steps. Thanks for the great post. Maria
