Macro Monday: Butterfly

Butterfly

This tiny fellow may be the first butterfly whose antennae and eyes are more interesting than the wings - though I never got a good look at the top side, as it was gone in a flash when it flew.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Internet troubles again.

Check out all the cool closeups at Macro Monday!

It is so irritating with internet troubles. When this happens I feel totally helpless! Hope your troubles are over.

Beautiful butterfly and the antennae is unlike any I've noticed before.

Thanks Daryl and Magdalena!

Carver, I don't recall seeing anything like it either. Thyra, I've followed your suggestion and I think you're right. It's some kind of hairstreak, but there are so many I'm not sure which. Thanks for the tip!

The butterfly is likely prettier when it opens out. I think they blend into their environment better when they fold their wings. This is a great shot of the antennae!
