52 Photos Project 6: Uncommon Shapes
What would you guess this is? Maybe an aerial view of a barren mountain range? Undiscovered pyramids in the depths of the sea?
Nope. It's a closeup of a Galapagos tortoise shell...
Which bears an uncanny resemblance to an African desert plant found in the Albuquerque arboretum.
Strange coincidence, no?
Check out more weird and wonderful shapes at The 52 Photos Project.

Fantastic shape!I love the closeup - I really couldn't tell what the shape was.
Cool!
What a lovely linkage of images!
Great post! Love the tortoise :)
lovely and fun geography/science lesson!
i couldn't guess at all...
It's shape and color must allow the turtle to hide in plain sight.
I love both the photographed objects. Nature is amazing and strange! I kinda thought it might be a turtle, but I wasn't thinking Galapagos. What terrific shots, thanks for sharing.
My first thought was "funny fungus " at a tree.... Great idea!
Brilliant! I had no idea what on earth it was. I love it!
awesome! no really it is...
I thought turtle for some reason
what fun, I thought it was definitely an aerial shot. Isn't perspective just wonderful!
awesome shapes!!!!great comparison!!
For once I guessed right! Great shot, and fascinating to see the similarity to the plant.
Those are some cool odd shapes! I was thinking that was a cut tree ring in the first photo!
The similarities between the tortoise shell and the plant is an odd thing indeed!
Love that, great close up, such a cool photo.
