Black and White: For Tomorrow

For Tomorrow

When we're done admiring these acorns - which are huge, by the way, over an inch long - I'll plant them in pots to be tucked into our woods in a few years.  The deer make short work of acorns and seedling trees, so the oaks need a little help to stand their ground. (The spiky pods are from velvetleaf, a big, bad weed. They will definitely not be getting any assistance.)

Mighty oaks do grow from such small but pretty seeds. Great still life.

But the spiky pods look very pretty too. nice collection and it makes a wonderful still life.

The velvetleaf pods are very attractive and add to the appearance of your collection. The must be huge pods if the acorns are that size! I love the smoothness of the wooden container.

The acorns look beautiful tucked in the lighter toned bowl which frames them so attractively.

Such a beautiful offering Vicki! Would you like to share this with I Heart Macro too this week?

Consider yourself formally invited to participate in the 5th Annual Gratitude (word) Quilt. Instructions and a link that explains the origins of this project can be found at the top of my blog. In past years there have been participants from every continent except for Antarctica. I hope you’ll join us:-)
