Pan's Shadow

Pan's Shadow

This is actually more of a silhouette, but it reminds me of the shadow of Peter Pan, which occassionally got loose and went for adventures on its own. It was taken in the last daylight hour of the last day of summer vacation.

More shadows await. They gather every Sunday at Harriet's Place. Click the logo to go and see:

Round Robins: First Signs of Spring

FirstCrocus

My beloved spake, and said unto me,

Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs,
and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell.
Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

~ The Song of Solomon, 2:10-13

Crocuses are usually the first sign of spring around here, blooming sometimes in early January. In this year of endless snow, they're only now appearing.

The first sign was actually the squirrels gathering leaves for their nests. Even the daffodils poked their noses out before the crocuses, which has got to be a first.

No matter. It seems winter is finally losing its grip, and the Round Robins are finding reasons to rejoice. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see all the spring things they've gathered: Join the celebration here!

Signs of life!

Shoots in the Snow

Look what's going on in my front yard today. The snow is in retreat, and fresh green things are arching their backs, heaving up the deep brown mulch, and reaching for the sun. Hallelujah, at last, Hallelujah!

P.S., can anyone tell me how to get a cropped photo to display in the full size allowed on Blogger? I had to sign up for Flickr hosting for this, and it still isn't sized right. So much to learn, so little time.
