Black and White: Playhouse

Playhouse

Somehow this deserted playhouse looked to me like a fairyland castle, nestled as it was in the woods. A little mist or fog would have been nice, but it still felt mysterious - and perhaps a bit sinister.

Monochrome Weekly: Game Over

Nothing But Net

I love this old abandoned barn, waiting patiently for someone to come and play. Standing under the tattered net, you can almost hear faint echoes of laughter.

Monochrome Weekly: Into the Light

Milkweed 2

The milkweed pods are bursting, releasing silken seeds that sparkle in the sun. Isn't it a wonder that such things exist?

Milkweed 6

I'm a bit late this week, and I haven't been around much. My Internet connection hasn't allowed me to upload photos or open most blogs. I'll try to get around to visit everyone, but it could take a while. I may need to sacrifice a mouse to the Web Gods or something.

Monochrome Weekly: Spooky

Lost

Here there be ghosts.

*P.S. At the base of the tree is the "head" of the snakelike vines, shown in the next post down: Scary

Shadow Shots: Scary

Watcher in the Woods

A watcher in the woods, its eyes full of Shadows.

Happy Halloween!

*P.S. To see the body of the "snake" click on the next post, Spooky. This face is in the vine root at the base of the tree.

Shadow Shots/Monochrome Weekly: Fallen

Fallen 3

This was a gorgeous Stargazer lily that fell off the stem all in one piece, like a skirt that popped open at the seam. I found that fascinating. (I am easily amused.)

Monochrome/Shadow Shots: Time Machine

Time Machine 2

This is the timing device that controls our off-peak water heater. I was in there trying to remember which of three switches the hubby told me would override it if I ran out of hot water, and realized that it looked very Doctor Who.

He says it goes to show that I'll photograph damn near anything. Which, of course, is true.

Monochrome Weekly: Beans a la Georgia

Beanflower 1

Found these lascivious ladies in the bean patch. I'll bet the next time you have green beans, you're going to remember this post.

Monochrome Weekly: Diamond Necklace

Diamond Necklace

I nearly stepped on this web before noticing it. I had no tripod with me, and by the time I returned with one about an hour later, I couldn't find it again. The shot could be sharper and the background could be fuzzier, but I still like it.

Monochrome Weekly: Feed Me

FEED Me

An escapee from Little Shop of Horrors?

The similarities in the shapes of living things are remarkable. Claws, fangs, horns ... the spiky things on this seedpod. Scary.

Monochrome Weekly: Wraith

Wraith

Maybe I should have saved this one for Halloween. The "wraith" is a moth on my patio door at night, but I don't know what the white orb is. The flash did not fire.

It actually photographed more as a golden sepia, but I like this spooky grey, grainy effect that happened when I completely desaturated the shot and boosted the contrast. ( I hope that's not cheating. I'm new here.)
