And while you're thinking about it, consider buying a Life Hammer, a device for quickly breaking out a car window. That's the Amazon link from the article, but your local auto parts stores carry them, too.
You'll probably never need this stuff. But you never know.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we have so many bridges up here. I need to get one of those hammers, the facts about the bridges here in Northern California were a real wake up call. It's another staple for any emergency kit.
We got a coworker one of those hammers for his birthday (among other things) because he's such a boy scout we thought he would appreciate it.
He keeps it in his desk drawer. Maybe he'll think about putting it in his car now...
