Round Robin Photo Challenge: Veggies

"Are you all ready to EAT YOUR VEGETABLES? Tee Hee. I hope so, because that is the subject of our next Round Robin Challenge! And that challenge will take place on Saturday, February 9th. Jill, one of our newest members, who authors the blog, 'Letting Crazy Take A Spin' recently submitted the idea, and here is what she says... 'Anything veggie related. Veggies can be so interesting.'" - Carly, Round Robins.

It's that time again, and I've really been looking forward to this one, because A. Veggies ARE gorgeous and B. This will be my first chance to use my new camera. It's supposed to be good at macros, so I took a stab at that. For my trial run here I used Auto settings to shoot and Auto Edit in the program that came with the camera. Obviously I have no clue what I'm doing, but getting better is going to be fun. Behold:

Somehow, the light turned out better on this one.

PS - The new camera is a Canon PowerShot G9. Scroll down to the previous two posts for details. If anyone else is using one of these, tips and suggestions are welcome.

Hi!

I have to say that the second photo is my favorite. This photo conveys (to me anyway) health, and community(all the different veggies, huddling together, lol.) Just awesome. Have a great week ahead.

I agree, the 2nd one is great! Caught little details and everything. Your new camera looks like a keeper.

I love the radish platter. I don't think you'll ever hear me order one - too spice for me, but yours is cute as a button.

Congrats on the new camera. Don't have any advice except to point and shoot. (Glad you didn't ask about a new gun.)
Great photos. Looks like a salad to me.

I love the first picture - it actually made me go "awesome picture" and my grandson get up off the floor to look.

Beautiful shots.

Hi Vicki :)

Darlin, this is art that I would hang in my kitchen. Lovely composition and lighting. :) You are off to a magnificent start with the new camera. :) So pretty I can't look away.

Always, Carly

Oh wow -- cauliflower! That vegetable is one of my favorites! Radishes . . . not so much. ;-) I was given cauliflower with some kind of sauce at a family dinner when I was probably 3 or 4 and I amazed everyone by liking it. LOL! The pics are very good.

I have a Canon EOS 10D and I need to learn more about using it, too. I'm embarrassed to say I've had it for several years now. LOL! I wish you better success in learning how to use yours. (I do love and rely on mine's auto settings.)

Oh, I love these! That first shot is a little dark, but somehow it only enhances the shot. The composition of outstanding, the beautifully veined leaf pointing at the top of the tomato, framed by the radiating pattern of the plate below. Outstanding! The other two shots are great, too, but I have less to say about them. Congrats on the new camera!

I am really impressed with the G9 on automatic. The first picture is really good for an automatic setting. It has a warm feeling. The second picture is more realistic in lighting, but, all in all, my favorite is the last one. I love the composition -- a radish bouquet!
If your pictures are this good and you're not used to the camera, I can hardly wait to see your next ones!
