We hustled out to see and were rewarded with not just a rainbow, but a double rainbow, a full half circle over the eastern woods.
With no wide-angle lens, and having to shoot from the shelter of the garage, I could only get part of it in the shot. I wish you could have seen the whole thing. It really was spectacular - well worth letting dinner get cold.

Wow that is a spectacular sight! If only rainbows would last awhile! Gorgeous photos!
Such gorgeous captures! Thanks as always for sharing the beauty!! Hope your weekend is going well!!
that's an amazing rainbow,
beautifully captured even without wide angle.
I never see rainbows that crisp and bright. Envious!
Delicate Shadows
These are beautiful shots of a gorgeous rainbow.
Yes, yes these are amazing!
I haven't found the of a rainbow...yet. :)
Gemma, so true. I wish this one could have stayed. But then, their fleeting quality is part of the magic, isn't it.
Sylvia - All weekends are fabulous in my book. Hope yours is, too!
Scene - Thanks! I think I'm asking Santa for a wide-angle and/or a macro lens.
Magic - True confession time: They did look this bright to the eye, but I had to boost the photos a bit to render them accurately.
I think you got most of it-what a great shot and what a great treat to see a double rainbow AND photograph it! I've tried many times and have been short of success.
i am truly never going to get me a rainbow photo ... sigh .. at least i will always have your's to look at ..
