"Sorrow and the scarlet leaf, sad thoughts and sunny weather; Ah me! This glory and this grief agree not well together!" -- Thomas Parsons, A Song for September
The pasture fence catches the first scattering of red leaves. They'll be falling fast, now that the nights have grown cold.
Sassafrass glows like stained glass in the sun. From another angle, a turtle face appears in profile, practicing his jack-0-lantern smile for Halloween. (Click photos to enlarge.)
There's a whole lotta red going on this week for Ruby Tuesday in the Fall. Check out the link, or you'll miss out!

Love the composition of the first photo. Nice to find beauty in simple surroundings.
Oh, yeah, I see the little face!
To me it looks like a bear face :). Either way, I love your eye and your creativity.
How nice that leaves get to end their lives with a final burst of beautiful redness!
That is beautiful..I love the colors. You mentioned your cat Gatsby isn't feeling well. Please let me know how the kitty does. It is so hard to know what to do and now I am reminded at how well cats mask pain. I am a bad cat Mommy...
I love fall!
we almost never get such perfect red leaves!
There's one tree here which occasionally produce few red leaves among the green, which usually drop after a while. I wish we have the whole tree turn to red sometimes, but since we get sunlight all year round, there's no chance of that!
