Shadow Shots: Little Boy Blue

Boy With a Blue Ball

This was one of those fleeting-moment shots, where the camera settings were all wrong but there wasn't time to fiddle with it. I reduced the saturation a bit and thought the effect was kind of interesting.

The shape of the boy's shadow struck me as bird-like, an echo of the geese in the park. And I imagined that he was on his way to deliver a bit more blue to the sky.

The boy is looking for a pick-up game, the large blue orb a sort of ersatz soccer ball. Now to make up a couple of teams, he and his shadow one of them...

The best pictures often show up when least expected. Forget the settings, you captured the moment!

Such a winsome ShadowShot! Makes me want to approach the little fellow and ask if he wants a playmate. Happy SSS.

I like this shot, Vicki. The shadow has an interesting shape and I like the curve of the rail.

Or maybe he was going to play ball with the geese!

BE MY COMPANION

Come here, my shadow,
Do not delay;
Be my companion,
Show me the way;
Teach me your secrets,
Chant as we go
Of light and darkness—
Make my heart glow!

several things come together in this shot to make it superb. I love the curve of the rail, the color of the ball, how he's holding it, the position of his feet, and of course the shadow! this is a perfect capture. happy SSS!

Nice composition .. when the lack of time to compensate happens to me I slap on some effect like posterize in 'post production' ;-D
